Riboflavin is also known as vitamin B2.
What is vitamin b2 needed for?
- Contributes to the maintenance of normal red blood cells.
- Contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
- Contributes to the maintenance of normal vision.
Good sources of vitamin b2 include:
- milk
- eggs
- fortified breakfast cereals
- rice
How much vitamin b2 do you need?
The amount of riboflavin adults (19-64 years) need is approx:
1.3 mg a day for men
1.1 mg a day for women
Riboflavin cannot be stored in the body, so you need it in your diet every day. You should be able to get all the vitamin B2 from a balanced and varied diet.
The Department of Health advice is that taking 40mg or less a day of riboflavin is unlikely to cause any harm.
